I recently adopted a weaver's stash that spanned 2 generations. As I filter through boxes (and boxes and boxes) of yarn, I'm also finding lovely little treasures from the past. It makes me wonder who will be looking through my stash one day. It has lit a bit of a fire in me to lift my organizational standard to that of the weavers who left this stash behind.

Probably broadcasting my age to all the Gen Z folks out there by saying this, but I am unabashedly happy to announce that I am a plant mom to 4 beautiful baby cotton plants which will hopefully produce some spinnable cotton bolls in the fall 🧶. Will they all make it to adulthood? Ehhhh... debatable. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

Lessons from a Broken Thread:
My current life events seem to be eerily reflected in my weaving practice. Broken threads happen, but in weaving, as in life, we need to address the issue, move on, and cut out that which does not serve to better our lives and our world. ✌❤️🧶

Video ID: Julia finds a broken thread while weaving a black and white cross and diamond patterned mug rug (coaster). She threads the broken end onto a tapestry needle, hand weaves the end back into the correct pattern, then finds the other half of the broken, weaves it into the to place and and temporarily ties the two together. She continues weaving, and once the mug rug is complete, she unties the knot and trims the excess yarn with a pair of black metal scissors.

The warp that would not end is FINALLY off the loom!

I was just not feeling that first tapestry sample so I unwove the whole thing, re-warped on a different loom and even though it's slow going I'm feeling so much better about what I'm producing. 2023 lesson #1: It's okay to restart (multiple times if necessary) ✌️❤️🧶
